For those of you visiting for the first time:

ATTENTION: Elder Michael Piercy will complete his mission and will return home on August 6, 2010 (revised arrival information is in the column to the right) Michael is scheduled to give his homecoming report in the Salt River Ward on August 8. The Salt River ward meets at 1:30 PM in the Cooley Park (west) chapel at 3345 E. McLellan Rd. Mesa, AZ 85213. Elder Piercy has been serving a two year mission in Armenia as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon).

Next week I will post photos of his homecoming and a recording of his homecoming report at church. That will be my final entry on "Michael's Mission Blog". He will start a new chapter in his life which you will have to follow on Face Book. Thanks to all who were interested enough to follow this Blog, I've enjoyed doing it and Elder Piercy deserves a lot of recognition for faithfully reporting each and every week with very few exceptions. Feel free to comment this week and welcome Michael home.

A New companion

To all the great people who keep track of my Blog!(I find there are more and more each week)-

It has definitely been an interesting and exciting week, especially with the change that happened to my companionship... but I'll get to that later. I always try to do things like this to keep people in suspense, but you all probably just get annoyed... anyway, I hope I hold your attention for the next little bit with my blog update for March 15th!

First, last Monday was pretty relaxing just having Preparation Day, we actually ended up watching Saints and Soldiers again... I think I have seen that 3 times on my mission now, but it isn't bad, just hanging out with the other missionaries is the fun thing. We ended up cutting the day a bit short though and going out to work. We ended up just doing a long finding hour and then getting a couple meetings in with Mher... the stud, and the Galdunts family... that leads me into Tuesday though.

Tuesday was another terrible day of my mission... I got sick again. I guess I must have eaten something that wasn't good at the Galdunts' house but I woke up in the middle of the night with diarrhea and puking. My puke was actually super colorful and full of potato chunks and other things I ate that night... I actually took a picture of it so maybe I will send it home for the blog. Other than that the next day was rough, I think I got out of bed at about 2pm, and realized I had missed the District Meeting we were supposed to go do in Artashat. Hopefully Elder Clark will forgive us since he had nothing prepared... we were going to be doing it, but I really don't think I could have made it. Basically we spent the entire day inside because I couldn't go too far from a toilet... the diarrhea continued most of the day. It was a great opportunity to clean and organize our entire house which was nice so now it looks really good! At the end of the day we were able to squeeze one meeting in with Narine our investigator when I was feeling better but that was about it.

On Wednesday morning we got a very interesting phone call from the Assistants... actually Elder Simonsen got an interesting phone call, he got transferred to Vanadzor. So now I have a new companion! It was definitely a surprise, I am now on my 4th companion since arriving in Davtashen... Elder Ellison, Elder Carlson, Elder Simonsen and now... Elder Gull! I am really excited to be serving with Elder Gull again though, we did so well last time together I am sure it will happen again. Look out Davtashen- Piercy/Gull round 2 in the house!

Elder Simonsen and I had to renew our Residence Cards on Wednesday, I now have permission to be in Armenia until February of 2011, maybe I should stick around a little longer, but I don't think President Carter (our soon to be Mission President) would allow it.

Thursday the exchange happened, there was a really good leadership meeting in the morning after which everyone went to their new areas. The meeting went really well, first of all it was just fun seeing all the Elders from all over the mission, specifically the North again and the talks and things were all great. President took us through 1 Samuel 16-17 and broke down all the great leadership attributes David had, then warned us that he still fell and we need to be careful the same thing doesn't happen to us. It was just really inspirational and good. Unfortunately this first day with my new companion I did not get to serve with him because the Assistants came and did an exchange.

I was with Elder Carlson and Elder Gull and Elder Ellison were together since Elder Ellison knows the area pretty well. It was great being with Elder Carlson again, we had really great lessons and conversations on the streets. We just teach really well together and it is such a joy to do it! We had some really great meetings with Karine and a potential investigator, and just had a really great time together. The next morning we ended up talking about the South Zone and getting on the same page with everything and it ended up just being a really effective exchange.

Friday I finally had my first day with Elder Gull, we ended up doing pretty good, we found 2 less actives on the Branch List who are willing to meet with us and just hope we can reactivate them in the church.

Saturday we did not have a ton to do, no meetings really worked out for us but we showed our faith by spending a lot of time on the street and talking with a lot of people. We ended up getting 2 meetings and 28 gospel conversations! Still no new investigators yet though. We did get offered a job to work at a car wash... they said since we are both so tall they could use us to clean the top of cars... unfortunately we had to decline.

Sunday was another good day of church, President Dunn came to our branch and talked about some really great things and tried to get all the members excited for Elder Scott's visit in June... apparently the last time an apostle was here was when Elder Holland came in April 07'. He reemphasized that in the scriptures whenever the Lord repeats himself we should pay special attention and referred to 3 Nephi 9:2 where he says "wo" 4 times in one verse and then the first chapter of Joshua where he encourages Joshua to be strong and of good courage 4 times, overall it was a really good and interesting talk. The other talks were really good too, overall just a top notch Sacrament meeting.

Well, overall I think it was a successful week, I am looking forward to pounding it with Elder Gull and I will write again next week. I hope you all have an awesome week and I will keep you informed again in 7 days.

Love,
Elder Piercy
